Because I Hate the Chicken Dance

There are two types of people in the world.

The people who do the chicken dance at weddings (or the conga line, or the electric slide, or the macarena, or square/country line dancing if it’s that kind of wedding) and the people who don’t.

Maybe the people who don’t, refuse to dance for the good of others, or they think the chicken dance is stupid, or they haven’t had enough to drink.

All of the above generally apply to me, and I don’t typically do the chicken dance at weddings.

But here’s a dirty little secret.

Sometimes, I want to do the chicken dance. I want to run out on the dance floor and cheep, cheep, cheep, flap, flap, flap, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, and clap, clap, clap my ass off.

Because it looks like fun.

In a nutshell, that’s how I ended up entering Le Clown’s Blogroll contest yesterday. It looked like fun and sad clowns freak me out.

I’m also really competitive, so I do want to win one of these coveted spots next to Carrie and LaLa, and probably Emily who is kicking my ass in this competition right now. (I’m still going back to vote for you Em).

You can vote for me by following the link and responding to my entry/comment (Lucky #15) with a LIKE in the hundreds of comments he’s collected. The Price is Right-esq picture shown here will help you find the entries among the comments.

If you don’t know Le Clown/Eric, go get to know him even if you don’t feel like voting.

He’s good people, his corner of WordPress is a fun place to be, and I like a contest where I’m confused about exactly who it is I am shamelessly promoting–Le Clown, Eric, or my own blog.

This is me dancing, Le Clown and company.

Cheep, Cheep, Cheep…

Damn it.

  1. I banned all of the above dances you mentioned at my wedding :)

  2. Dance the chicken dance! Dance away. I have “liked” you Rachelle over at that clown boy’s place.

Thank you for liking me at the circus! My only campaign promise is to follow everyone who votes for me immediately. Even if I don’t win, I hope to make some new friends.
I also hope that the next few challenges don’t involve videos of me doing the chicken dance.

  3. If I’d known there was ice cream and dancing, I’d have voted for you sooner!

  4. That Le Clown knows what he’s doing, doesn’t he? ;)

He has a way about him doesn’t he? I thought I might convince you to put in a good word, but I just noticed the comments are over 500 now so ummm.
      Yeah.
No obligation to go find mine. :)

Ooh, looks like fun! I’m off to check it out (with the chicken dance song now stuck in my head, thank you very much :-) )

  6. Rachelle!
Well played! Love it. You’ve just earned five more bonus points! And if you want the direct link to your nomination comment, here it is:

      Thanks Le Clown!
The link is very thoughtful of you, and considering the amount of traffic and comments you’ve generated, I’m impressed that you took the time to leave it.
Thoughts that you have probably worked yourself into a full time contest job is a small compensation for my chicken dancing and willing accommodation of unexpected contest requirements. Smiley face, hash tag, laugh out loud.
      Good times,
      Rachelle

      • Rachelle,
This picked up more than I thought it would, which I am not complaining about. If I do a contest like this again, I will team up with a few bloggers to help out! Glad you’re having fun with it though!

  8. Great post!
There’s a giant rivalry, but we’ll make it through I think? At least it gives me plenty of stuff that makes me smile, and a few new blog friends!

I think so! Today’s was fun, and I’m happy to meet everyone else. Making new friends is definitely the best part, and I appreciate you stopping by today!

  9. As far as those ‘dances’ go, I have seen many an elegant low-key wedding go completely awry when those start up. The bottom of the barrel is clearly the Electric Slide.

Playing “Last Dance” as the last song similarly kills the buzz I spent the whole time working on. All that effort, wasted (pun intended).

Okay, you talk now.
